……….BUT THE WHOLE TRUTH

Medium: 12 found replicas of a European painting (3′ x  4’ each) by Chinese painters displayed in gilded frames in a yellow room.

An idyllic street scene of late 19th century Paris with Eiffel tower in the background. Romance with the European ‘high culture’, manifests itself in ‘low art’ fakes produced by anonymous Chinese painters. The same scene painted over and over again presents the truth…but (not) the whole truth.
